BIO
Trillium brings Irish and Celtic music to life through driving dance tunes, expressive airs, songs in Irish, and engaging storytelling. Blending authentic regional styles, modern compositions, and inventive arrangements, the ensemble delivers performances that are both rooted in tradition and unmistakably their own.
Music by today’s leading Irish composers sits at the heart of Trillium’s programming. By featuring contemporary voices alongside beloved classics, the group highlights how Irish music continues to evolve while staying rooted in tradition.
Blending regional styles from Ireland—Sligo, Clare, and Donegal—with Québécois and Métis influences from Canada, Trillium explores the rich variety of Celtic music. The group brings out the distinct rhythms, ornamentation, and character that set each tradition apart.
Whether performing at a festival, concert series, educational program, or cultural celebration, Trillium creates performances that invite audiences to listen, laugh, sing, and become part of the music. Their engaging stage presence, storytelling, and sense of connection transform each program into a shared experience.
Trillium has appeared at Michigan Celtic Festival, Sparta Celtic Festival, Arts Beats & Eats, Wheatland Wheatscouts, Live at the Presby Concert Series, The Rhubarbary Concert Series, Battle Creek Mastersingers, and the Battle Creek Symphony Sound Bites Series, and continues to perform throughout the Midwest.
Trillium features Anne Harrigan (fiddle), Anna Kurtz (vocals), Cheryl Medvedenko (whistle), and Thom Jayne (guitar and didgeridoo), with frequent guest artists.
